Clippers 14, Bats 5

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Clippers got off to a quick start and never looked back on the way to posting a 14-5 win over Louisville Sunday.

Columbus hitters jumped on right hander Alfredo Simon immediately, with Colin Cowgill’s RBI single scoring Erik Gonzalez two batters into the game.

Scheduled to pitch only one inning, Simon got the loss after he gave up an unearned run on three hits and struck out one.

Relieving Simon, right-hander Rookie Davis, entered the game and gave up four runs in the second inning to push the Clippers lead to 5-0.

The Clippers added their sixth and seventh run in the fourth on a Cowgill double and a Jesus Aguilar single.

Cowgill finished 3-for-6 with 4 RBI. Giovanny Urshela hit a two-run home run in the 2nd inning and Michael Choice and Guillermo Quiroz added solo shots.

The Bats and Clippers will complete the four-game series at 7:05 p.m. Monday.
