COLUMBUS – The Clippers capitalized on two mistakes by Durham starter Jake Faria to score all the runs they would need in a 2-0 win Wednesday afternoon at Huntington Park in front of 10,100 fans.
In the bottom of the third inning, Faria hit Clippers second baseman Yhoxian Medina with a pitch and shortstop Erik Gonzalez followed that up by taking him deep over the wall in right center field for his 11th home run of the season.
Clippers southpaw Ryan Merritt (10-7) worked six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while walking one and fanning two hitters.
The Clippers are back in action Friday night against division rival Toledo at 7:15 p.m.
