COLUMBUS – The Clippers avoided a series sweep at the hands of Lehigh Valley by beating the Iron Pigs, 2-1, in the finale Wednesday night at Huntington Park.
The Clippers scored all they’d need in the second inning on a two-run home run by Eric Stamets.
The pitching staff took it from there, striking out 14 while giving up only one run to secure the win for Stephen Fife (4-5).
Starter Tom Eshelman (1-8) got the loss for Lehigh Valley which had won the first two games of the series.
The Clippers will welcome the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for the first of a four-game series Thursday at Huntington Park.
