Clippers 2, RailRiders 1

COLUMBUS – The Clippers got back on the winning track with a 2-1 victory at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Thursday night.

It was the 18th time in the last 22 meetings that the Clippers have bested the RailRiders. Eleven of those losses were by one run.

The Clippers jumped on starter Tyler Webb in the first inning when Erik Gonzalez doubled to right and scored on a single to center by Giovanny Urshela.

Columbus scratched the winning run across in the eighth. Yandy Diaz singled and moved to second on a hit by Adam Moore. A groundout by Colin Cowgill moved the runners up and an ill-timed passed ball allowed Diaz to score.

Game 2 of the series is Friday night at 6:35 pm.
