COLUMBUS – The Clippers beat Durham 3-1 Thursday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park to win the four-game series between the two teams.
The Bulls scored first in the third inning on a solo home run into the front row in right field by Willy Adames.
The Clippers tied the score in the top of the fourth when Richie Shaffer’s single to center field to score Bradley Zimmer.
Columbus went ahead in the top of the sixth when a single by Ronny Rodriguez scored Chris Colabello and Adam Moore’s single brought Giovanny Urshela.
Ryan Merritt (3-3) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and one earned run and striking out seven hitters to get the win while Brent Honeywell (2-3) was charged with the loss.
The Clippers travel to Gwinnett for a three game series starting Friday and returns home on May 15 for a Dime-A-Dog Night at 6:35 p.m.
