MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Nolan Jones hit a tie-breaking two-run home run in the sixth inning and the Clippers held on to beat the Memphis Redbirds Wednesday night.
Kirk McCarty (7-3) struck out six while holding the Redbirds to only one run on two hits over five innings on the mound.
Anthony Gose struck out Nick Plummer with runners on the corners in the eighth to preserve a one-run lead and pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up his first save of the season.
Zack Thompson (2-7) took the loss for Memphis.
