Clippers 3, Red Wings 2

COLUMBUS – Brandon Barnes hit a tie-breaking two-run home run to left field in the bottom of the fifth inning, sending the Clippers to a 3-2 win over Rochester in the final game of their three-game series at Huntington Park Wednesday afternoon.

In the heat of the chase in the International League West Division, Columbus has won four of its last five games.

Mitch Talbot (4-5) got the win for the Clippers and Ben Taylor gave up a homer in the ninth but got his 10th save of the season.

Lewis Thorpe (0-1) struck out nine hitters but also gave up seven hits in the losing effort for the Red Wings.

Syracuse comes to town Thursday for a four-game weekend series.
