COLUMBUS – The Clippers swept both games of a twi-night double header over Syracuse at Huntington Park Thursday, thanks to a tight 4-3 win in the first game and a lop-sided 10-2 victory in the second.
Tyler Naquin broke a 3-3 ties with a walkoff homer to right center field off losing pitcher Sammy Solis (1-2) in the seventh inning.
Kyle Crockett (4-3) pitched the seventh for the Clippers to get the win.
Richie Shaffer hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning to highlight the second game.
Columbus scored six runs in the second inning, highlighted by Naquin’s two-run double.
Chris Narveson (4-5) allowed just one hit and struck out five hitters while allowing two runs over six innings of work.
Jacob Turner (0-2) took the loss for the Chiefs.
The four-game series resumes Friday night at 7:15 p.m.
