COLUMBUS – The Clippers scored three runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to win a rain-shortened victory over Louisville at Huntington Park Sunday.
With the score tied and the skies darkening, the Clippers jumped ahead with three runs off of a double by Erik Gonzalez and a two-run Yandy Diaz single to take a 4-1 lead.
Left-hander Ryan Merritt (11-7, 3.43) made the start for the Clippers and earned the win following six innings pitched in which he gave up one run on five hits and struck out five.
The Clippers hit the road for a series at Durham that begins Monday night at 7:05 p.m.
