COLUMBUS – Brandon Barnes hit a home run and scored another as the Clippers beat Charlotte, 4-1, Thursday, avoiding a sweep at the hands of the Knights.
Barnes scored on a single by Drew Maggi in the fourth inning to start the scoring for Columbus and added a second run on a solo shot to center field in the sixth.
Nellie Rodriguez also hit a homer off Charlotte starter Carson Fulmer (3-3) and Yandy Diaz scored as well.
Mitch Talbot (1-2) scattered seven hits and struck out five hitters to collect the win for the Clippers who head to Gwinnett for a four-game series that starts with a doubleheaders Friday night.
