COLUMBUS – The Clippers broke a 2-all tie with two runs in the sixth inning to win the opening game of a three-game series in Toledo, 4-2, Tuesday night.
Michael Martinez, who went 2-for-3 on the night, knocked in Erik Gonzalez and James Ramsey with a single to center field to provide the winning margin. Gonzalez and Ramsey accounted for all of the Columbus runs, having scored their first two in the top of the fourth to give the Clippers a 2-1 lead.
Jarrett Grube (3-0) gave up the Mud Hens’ two runs on five hits while striking out six hitters in five innings on the mound.
The second game of the series is Wednesday night.
