Clippers 5, Bats 2

COLUMBUS – The Clippers beat the Louisville Bats, 5-2, Wednesday night at Huntington Park, clinching a win in the four-game series against their International League West Division rivals.

Columbus leads second-place Indianapolis Indians by 12 games.

Ryan Flaherty got the Clippers on the board with a two-run home run in the third inning, his second homer of the series.

Eric Stamets added two insurance runs with an RBI double in the sixth.

Tyler Mahle (0-2) struck out five hitters in 2 2/3 innings but took the loss.

Shao-Ching Ciang (8-8) got the win for Columbus.

The two teams conclude the series Thursday night.
