Clippers 5, Red Sox 2

COLUMBUS – The Clippers took an early lead and sailed to a 5-2 victory, completing a four-game sweep of the Pawtucket Red Sox on a steamy late Sunday afternoon at Huntington Park.

The Clippers have swept the PawSox in each of the last two seasons in Columbus, claiming all seven contests in Columbus.

The Clippers used two singles and a walk to load the bases with one out in the third before Adam Moore ripped a two-run double into right field to give Columbus a 3-0 lead.

Two batters later, Colin Cowgill lined an RBI single into center field. Rusney Castillo gunned down Moore at the plate to hold the deficit to 4-0 but the damage was don.

The Clippers head out on a six-game road trip to Norfolk and Charlotte Tuesday.
