COLUMBUS – Mark Matthias knocked in the winning run in the 10th inning as the Clippers rallied to beat the Pawtucket Red Sox 5-4 Tuesday night in the opening game of a three-game series at McCoy Stadium
Columbus came back from a 3-1 deficit and tied the game in the eighth inning when Eric Stamets singled to center field, scoring Eric Haase.
Mathias’s line-drive single on to right field brought Bobby Bradley in with the winning run.
Josh D. Smith (5-0) got the win for Columbus.
Trevor Kelley (2-2) took the loss.
The two teams resume the series Wednesday night.
