Clippers 5, Tides 2

COLUMBUS – Ryan Rohlinger’s big night at the plate powered the Clippers to a 5-2 win in Norfolk Thursday.

Rohlinger finished a triple short of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with his second home run of the year, which came in the top of the 8th inning when the Clippers batted around and scored all of their runs.

Rohlinger’s two-run shot and a two-run double by Audy Ciriaco highlighted the big inning for Columbus.

Joseph Colon (1-0) came on in relief of starter Ryan Merritt in the 7th and got the benefit of the offensive outburst to get the win.

The Clippers go for the series sweep against the Tides when the two teams meet up again Friday.
