COLUMBUS – The Clippers unleashed an early offensive barrage and went on to beat the Bats 6-1 in the opening game of a three-game series in Louisville.
A Yandy Diaz three-run homer would set the pace for the evening, creating a 3-0 early lead for the Clippers in the first and a second-inning single by Diaz widened the lead to 4-0. Diaz also hit RBI single in the Clippers’ two-run sixth.
Starter Shawn Morimando (2-3) gave up the Bats’ only run, in the fifth, and surrendered seven hits in six shutout innings to get the win.
Rob Wooten (1-2) took the loss for Louisville.
The teams play game two Tuesday night at 6:35.
