COLUMBUS – The Clippers beat Louisville 6-2 Thursday night to complete a three-game sweep of the Bats.
Jesus Aguilar was 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and Tyler Holt scored 2 runs while going a 2-for-4 at the plate as the Clippers offense came alive after scoring only five runs in their last four games.
Adam Moore scored in the top of the 2nd inning on a sacrifice fly by Audy Ciriaco and James Ramsey crossed the plate when Bats catcher Ramon Cabrera committed a throwing error while Erik Gonzalez stole second and advanced to third on the miscue.
With Columbus leading 2-1 in the top of the 5th, a Michael Martinez double to left field scored Holt and Martinez scored on Aguilar’s infield single.
Jordan Cooper (4-2) pitched 6 1/3 effective innings, giving up the two Louisville runs, but still getting the win.
Gwinnett visits Huntington Park for a four-game series, starting with a Friday doubleheader. The first game is the continuation of a rained-out game at Gwinnett earlier in the season.
