COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Clippers beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 6-4 Sunday.
Columbus has won nine of its last 13 games.
Clippers pitchers combined to retire 21 batters in a row Sunday afternoon. All four of the Lehigh Valley runs scored in the second inning.
Tyler Cloyd (5-4) survived that rough inning and then settled in to retire the last 17 he faced on his way to getting the win. Tyler Knigge (1-1) went 2-1/3 innings in relief for the IronPigs and gave up the go-ahead run in the seventh. Austin Adams got the last six outs for his first save of the year.
Elliot Johnson’s triple in the seventh scored Audy Ciriaco to give Columbus a 5-4 lead.
The Clippers try for the series in the finale Monday at 7:05 p.m.
