Clippers 6, RailRiders 3

COLUMBUS – The Clippers scored five times in the first inning on the way to a 6-3 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the opening game of a three-game series at Huntington Park Tuesday night.

Austin Jackson doubled and scored on Yandy Diaz’s single to right. Diaz scored on Richie Shaffer’s double to the left-center field wall. Giovanny Urshela walked. Nellie Rodriguez walked to load the bases. Chris Colabello drove in two runs on a ground rule double to left-center. Rodriguez scored on Adam Moore’s sacrifice fly to right field.

Adam Plutko pitched 5 innings allowing just four hits and three runs, striking out four and walking one to pick up the win.

Luis Cessa (2-4) gave up all 6 Clippers runs on 9 hits while striking out six hitters over 5 2/3 innings to take the loss.

Game 2 is Wednesday night.
