Clippers 6, Red Sox 1

COLUMBUS – A wave of unanswered offense pushed the Clippers to a 6-1 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox on Sunday evening in finale of a three-game series at Huntington Park.

Columbus tied the game, 1-1, on a solo homer from Eric Stamets, in the fifth inning, then broke the deadlock in the bottom of the sixth inning when right fielder Richie Shaffer drilled a solo long ball to left-center field, his 28th homer of the season.

The Clippers tacked on four two-out runs in the seventh on RBI hits by Daniel Robertson and Yandy Diaz and a two-run double by Ronny Rodriguez.

Jarrett Grube (6-7) fired six innings of one-run work to get the win for Columbus.

Pawtucket starter Justin Haley (2-2) took the loss

The Clippers hit the road Monday for seven games at International League West Division rivals Toledo and Indianapolis.
