COLUMBUS – The Clippers’ bullpen nearly let the game slip away but slammed the door in time to preserve a 6-5 win over the Rochester Red Wings Thursday night at Huntington Park.
Columbus built a 6-0 lead in support of 5 2/3 shutout innings from starter Logan Allen (1-3) before the Red Wings scored five runs in the final two innings.
Jake Jewell struck out Jake Alu with the tying and go-ahead runs on base for his fourth save of the season.
Gabriel Arias and Oscar Mercado hit solo home runs for Columbus.
