Clippers 7, Bats 6

COLUMBUS – Shawn Armstrong struck out Yorman Rodriguez with the tying run on third base to record his 12th save of the season and preserve a 7-6 Clippers win over Louisville at Huntington Park Tuesday night.

Columbus built a 7-3 lead over the first five innings, only to see the Bats climb back to within one run in the top of the seventh inning on a two-run double to center field off the bat of Ramon Cabrera.

Taking over in the ninth, Armstong gave up a one-out triple to Hernan Iribarren, who scored on Irving Falu’s single to left.

After Falu moved to third on a single by Cabrera and, with the tying run 90 feet away, Armstrong fanned Rodriguez to end the game.

Toru Murata (8-4), who gave up three runs in 5 2/3 inning, got the win for the Clippers.

The two teams head to Louisville for two games, starting Wednesday night.
