Clippers 7, RailRiders 6

COLUMBUS – The Clippers eked out a 7-6 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Thursday to win the three-game series between the two teams at Huntington Park.

Starter Jarrett Grube gave up four runs to the RailRiders in the 2nd inning, three of them on a three-run home run to center field by Ben Gamel to give Scranton a 4-2 lead.

The Clippers rallied, scoring a run in 3rd and three more in the 4th, including a two-run single from Erik Gonzalez.

The RailRiders answered with two more in the 6th to tie the score again, at 6-6.

Zach Walters scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th when Audy Ciriaco grounded out to shortstop Cole Figueroa.

C.C. Lee (3-3) got the final out of the Scranton half of the 7th, then gave up a hit and a walk in the 8th, but still got the win while Shawn Armstrong took over to record his 14th save of the season.

Lehigh Valley comes to town for three games, beginning Friday night.
