Clippers 8, Bats 0

COLUMBUS – An 8-0 win by the Clippers saved Columbus from being swept by Louisville in the Clippers first home series of the 2017 season.

Right-hander Mike Clevenger was stellar on the mound Sunday at Huntington Park, giving up three hits and recording eight strikeouts while allowing only one walk over six innings.

The Clippers started the scoring early by plating one run in the first inning off a sacrifice fly, scoring Tyler Naquin from third base. They tacked on two more runs in the third inning and five more in the bottom of the sixth, when all nine batters came to plate. The highlight was a two-run home run by Erik Kratz for the Clippers.

The Clippers head off on a six-game road trip beginning Tuesday night in Lehigh Valley.
