COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Clippers got two big innings to win the series opener with the Buffalo Bisons 8-4 Monday night.
The win is the fifth straight in the current home stand and sixth in a row overall.
Tyler Cloyd (4-4) took the win, allowing four runs on 10 hits. Deck McGuire (3-1) lasted 3-1/3 innings and allowed six runs.
The Clippers took a 2-1 lead in the second inning, but the score was tied going to the bottom of the fourth when Columbus broke the game open with five runs. Tim Fedroff broke the tie with a bases-loaded RBI single to right. Jesus Aguilar singled to make it 4-2 and Elliot Johnson really broke it open with a two-run double and Carlos Moncrief hit a sacrifice fly to cap the scoring and give the Clippers a 7-2 lead.
Game two of the series will be at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday night at Huntington Park.
