Clippers 8, Bulls 0

COLMBUS – Shawn Morimando threw his first career nine-inning complete game, tossing a five-hit shutout to lead the Clippers past Durham, 8-0, Thursday night at Huntington Park.

Morimando (5-5) was aided by three double plays en route to his third career complete game, the previous two coming in six-inning outings in double headers.

A day after being shut out 11-0, the Clippers’ bats woke up with a bang.

Columbus struck for three home runs, including a three-run blast in the first inning by Chris Colabello.

Still leading 3-0 in the sixth, Richie Shaffer cranked out his league-tying 14th homer for a 4-0 advantage and Todd Hankins added a three-run shot later in the inning as the Clippers took a 7-0 lead.

Ryan Yarbrough (5-4) worked 5 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and six earned runs to take the loss for the Bulls.

The Clippers welcome Gwinnett to Huntington Park for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday night.
