COLUMBUS – Jordan Luplow put the Clippers ahead with a two-run home run in the eighth inning and the bullpen made it stand up as Columbus beat Louisville 9-5 in a day game at Louisville Slugger Field Wednesday.
With the score tied at 4-4, Luplow knocked a pitch off reliever Cody Reed (0-2) into the left field seats, scoring Brandon Barnes ahead of him for a 6-4 lead.
Eric Stamets added a two-run blast in the ninth as the Clippers put the game out of reach.
Josh D. Smith (1-0) got the win.
Francisco Lindor, on a rehab assignment from Cleveland, went hitless in four trips to the plate as designated hitter.
The two teams conclude their four-game series Thursday night.
