COLUMBUS – After a come-from-behind victory Monday night, the Clippers did it again Tuesday, beating the Mud Hens 9-7 in Toledo.
Michael Martinez provided the biggest offensive punch, 3-for-6 at the plate with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.
Heading into the sixth, Columbus trailed the Hens 3-1 but were able to put seven runs across and never trailed after that. Martinez knocked in two runs on a single to center fielder and scored later. Adam Moore’s double to left brought Jesus Aguilar and Zach Walters around.
Ryan Merritt (1-0) gave up five runs on 10 hits but still got the win.
Columbus had beaten Toledo 6-5 Monday and trails Indianapolis by 3 games in the International League West Division standings with 13 regular season games left to play.
Game three is Wednesday at 6:30, which will conclude an eight-game road trip during which the Clippers won five of the first seven games.
