Clippers bang out 23 hits in 11-5 win over Toledo

COLUMBUS – The Clippers’ offense got going early and never stopped, cranking out 23 hits on the way to beating the Mud Hens 11-5 in the opening game of a four-game series at Huntington Park.

Brandon Barnes went 5-for-6, including a two-run homer as part of a four-runs fourth inning that gave them a 9-2 lead.

Clippers’ starter Sean Brady (1-0) got the win while Ryan Carpenter (1-4) gave up nine runs on 14 hits to take the loss for Toledo.

The teams will play game two Tuesday at 6:35 p.m.
