COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Clippers exploded for five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to smash the Louisville Bats 11-1 in the opening game of a four-game series at Huntington Park.
Adam Moore went 3-for-3, scoring two runs, Francisco Lindor knocked in three runs and James Ramsay and Giovanni Urshela hit a home run apiece.
Shaun Marcum pitched seven innings, giving up the lone run, before turning the ball over to Ryan Webb.
The wheels came off for Louisville when Chris Carpenter replaced Sam LeCure on the mound in the eighth with the Bats already trailing 6-1.
After Urshela singled, two passed balls by catcher Kyle Skipworth moved him to third and he scored easily on a single by Adam Moore.
A Jesus Aguilar double and Zach Walters’ triple brought in three of the five runs.
Game two of the series is at 7:15 p.m. Friday.
