COLUMBUS – Indianapolis hit seven home runs in a 21-1 win over the Clippers Thursday at Huntington Park.
No, that is not a typo: Twenty-one to one. The score was 12-1 temporarily, but then the Indians exploded for nine runs in the ninth inning.
Danny Ortiz, Jacob Stallings, Joey Terdoslavich, Eric Wood, Jordan Luplow and Christopher Bostick all hit homers.
Columbus’ lone run came from an RBI single from Michael Martinez that scored Yandy Diaz in the bottom of the fourth.
Tyler Glasnow (3-0) got the benefit of all that power, earning the win after going 5 2/3 innings.
Of the five Columbus pitchers to take the mound, only closer Josh Wilson managed to get away without giving up at least one run. Danny Salazar (0-1) took the loss but Perci Garner (36.0 ERA) and Jeremy Lucas (14.4) were knocked around pretty badly too and Adam Plutko also surrendered seven of the Indians’ runs.
The Clippers’ home stand continues Friday night when the Norfolk Tides visit Huntington Park at 7:05 p.m.
