Clippers clinch IL West

COLUMBUS – The Clippers completed a sweep of the Louisville Bats Thursday night with a 6-2 win, clinching the International League West Division.

Boasting the league’s best record, Columbus is the first division leader to clinch a playoff spot. Second-place Indianapolis was eliminated by virtue of a loss to Toledo.

Daniel Johnson went 2-for-5 for the Clippers with five RBI, including a two-run home run in the third inning off losing pitcher Tejay Antone (2-8) and a bases-clearing double in the eighth.

Scott Moss (2-0-) struck out seven hitters in five innings without surrendering a hit.

The Clippers host the Mud Hens for the final three home games of the regular season starting Friday night at Huntington Park.
