Clippers drop 8th straight

INDIANAPOLIS – The Clippers lost the first game of a six-game series in Indianapolis, 5-3.

Columbus had a 2-0 lead before committing two errors on a single play and allowing the Indians to tie up the score in the sixth inning.

Losing pitcher Kyle Dowdy (1-2) walked in one run and allowed another when he hit batter T.J. Rivera with the bases loaded in the eighth.

Oscar Mercado, Bobby Bradley and Ryan Lavarnway hit home runs for Columbus, which lost its eighth game in a row.
