COLUMBUS – The Clippers let a chance to take command of the International League West slip away when they lost the finale of a four-game series with Indianapolis, 2-1, Thursday at Huntington Park.
Alan Hanson’s two-run home run in the third innings was all the Indians needed as starter Wilfredo Boscan (7-3) held the Clippers to one run in six innings of work.
Josh Tomlin (1-1) took the loss, giving up Hanson’s homer among six hits over 6 1/3 innings.
Zach Walters doubled home Jerry Sands with the Clippers’ sole run in the bottom of the sixth. Blake Wood retired the Clippers in the ninth for his 23rd save of the season.
The loss dropped Columbus one game behind the Indians in the standings.
The Clippers travel to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for three games beginning Friday night.
