Clippers lose see-saw game

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Clippers fell to the Louisville Bats 6-5 on a walk-off double Wednesday night.

Columbus remains in a tie for first place in the International League West thanks to an Indianapolis loss earlier in the day.

The Bats snapped an eight-game losing streak.

The Clippers rallied multiple times against the reeling Bats, taking a 3-2 lead with two runs in the fourth inning. Tyler Holt reached on an error to start the inning and jogged home on an RBI double by Jesus Aguilar, who scored on a two-out RBI double by Carlos Moncrief.

The Bats rallied for a pair of their own in the fourth to retake the lead.

In the sixth, Holt doubled and Francisco Lindor singled to start the inning and Aguilar’s fly to right tied the game at three.

Back-to-back singles by Chris Wallace and Holt started the eighth inning. Aguilar shot a ball to right with one out and scored Wallace to tie the game at four. Giovanny Urshela then gave Columbus a 5-4 lead with an RBI single back up the middle. Louisville answered in the bottom half to tie the score going to the ninth.

With one out, Jason Bourgeois hit a ground-rule double to right field, bringing Tucker Barnhart home with the game-winning run.

Vinnie Pestano (2-4) started the ninth for Columbus, allowed the winning run and took the loss. Elvin Ramirez (2-2) did not allow a run in the top half of the inning and notched the win.

The finale of the four-game series starts at 7:05 p.m. in Louisville.
