Clippers losing streak ends with 3-1 win

COLUMBUS – A three-run sixth inning was all the Clippers needed to snap out of their six-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over Lehigh Valley Wednesday at Huntington Park.

Yandy Diaz, Tyler Naquin and Erik Gonzalez each singled to load the bases for Chris Colabello who singled to center to score Diaz and Naquin. Bradley Zimmer’s sacrifice fly to right field scored Gonzalez to give the Clippers a 3-1 edge.

Columbus starter Shawn Morimando (1-3) gave up three hits and the IronPigs’ only run while striking out five hitters over seven innings to take the win. Joseph Colon snuffed out a ninth-inning rally to earn his third save of the season.

Adam Morgan (0-1) took the loss for Lehigh Valley.

The Clippers and Pigs close out their series with a business day special at 11:35 Thursday morning. Charlotte comes to Huntington Park to begin a three-game series Friday night.
