Clippers return with win at Louisville

COLUMBUS – In their first regular-season game since 2019, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Clippers beat the Louisville Bats, 6-3, Tuesday.

Oscar Mercado knocked in one run and scored another and Gabriel Arias hit a two-run homer during the Clippers’ five-run first inning at Louisville Slugger Field. Ben Gamel went 3-for-5 and scored a run.

Kirk McCarty (1-0) got the win for Columbus.

Braden Shipley (0-1) took the loss.

The Clippers play six games in Louisville before returning to Huntington Park May 11th for their home opener against the Omaha Storm Chasers at 6:15 p.m.
