Clippers score winning runs with (almost) 3 outs

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Clippers blanked the Gwinnett Braves 6-0 in six innings of a rain-shortened game Thursday.

The Clippers scored five of their six runs with two outs.

Tyler Cloyd (3-3 pitched five innings of scoreless ball to get the win before the rains came.

It was a hard-luck outing for Jordan Walden (0-1) was the starter for the Braves and was stuck with the loss after pitching only 2/3 of an inning. He struck out the side in the first, but a wild pitch on the third strike to Adam Abraham allowed him to reach first with two outs. The next man up was Elliot Johnson and he homered to give the Clippers a 2-0 lead.

The Clippers go for the series sweep Friday at 7:05 p.m.
