COLUMBUS, Ohio –Audy Ciriaco accounted for four of the Clippers’ runs and Jordan Cooper turned in a strong performance on the mound in a 5-2 win over Charlotte Thursday at Huntington Park.
The victory earned the Clippers a sweep of a three-game series.
Ciriaco’s first RBI came in the fourth inning when Tyler Holt scored the game’s first run on a sacrifice fly. Jesus Aguilar was the beneficiary of a sixth inning sac fly from Ciriaco that brought Aguilar home with a run that gave the Clippers a 3-0 lead. James Ramsey came home on Ciriaco’s double to right in the bottom of the eighth and Ciriaco scored on a sacrifice fly by Michael Martinez.
Cooper (1-1) gave up three hits and struck out six hitters in six innings.
The Pawtucket Red Sox come to Columbus for three games starting Friday night.
