Clippers swept in marathon DH

COLUMBUS, Ohio – It took 16 innings and nearly six and a half hours of baseball and the Clippers still ended up on the losing end of two games in Buffalo Wednesday.

Game one was the completion of Tuesday’s rain-suspended game which the Bisons won 5-4 on a walkoff single by Adron Chambers in the 13th inning.

The game wound up being the longest suspended game in Bisons franchise history, 13 innings and four hours and twenty minutes.

Darin Mastroianni drew a one-out walk in the bottom of the 13th, stole second and scored the winning run on Chambers’ single.

Luis Ayala (1-1) got the win for the Bisons while Juan Carlos Ramirez (1-1) took the loss.

Buffalo capped off the sweep by winning the second game — a seven-inning affair — 3-2.

Game two was billed as a matchup between Danny Salazar, one of the top young pitchers in Cleveland’s organization, and the Blue Jays’ top prospect, Aaron Sanchez.

Sanchez ended up with a no-decision as Raul Valdes (3-1) was credited with the win and Salazar (1-5) was saddled with the loss for Columbus.

The Bisons and Clippers will play the third game of a four-game set on Thursday at 1:05 p.m.
