COLUMBUS – The Clippers completed a three-game sweep of Indianapolis in a 10-1 rout Thursday night at Huntington Park and leapfrogged the Indians to take over the top spot in the International League West Division standings in the process.
Jarrett Grube (5-5) two-hit the Indians over seven innings and the Clippers used an eight-run seventh to pull away from the Indians.
The Clippers took a 2-0 lead into the seventh when singles by Nellie Rodriguez and Robertson and a walk to Yandy Diaz loaded the bases with no outs. Tyler Naquin then reached on a fielding error by third baseman Eric Wood, allowing two runs to score.
Back-to-back doubles by Richie Shaffer and Abraham Almonte made it 7-0, and Nellie Rodriguez capped the outburst with a three-run homer to left-center.
Drew Hutchison (6-7) was saddled with the loss for the Indians.
The Toledo Mud Hens come to Huntington Park for a four-game series that begins Friday night at 7:15 p.m.
