Clippers take over 1st in IL West

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Clippers return home to Huntington Park in first place in the International League West after beating the Louisville Bats 8-1 Thursday night.

Columbus won three out of four games in Louisville and, thanks to an Indianapolis loss — ended the day alone atop the division standings.

The Clippers got great offense early, scoring six runs in the first two innings and leaving the game in the hands of Toru Murata (1-2) who faced the minimum number of batters through five innings and did not allowed a hit until the sixth.

Brett Marshall (0-7) allowed all eight Clippers runs in five innings of work to take the loss.

The Clippers return to Huntington Park to face the Norfolk Tides for the first of four at 7:15 p.m. Friday.
