COLUMBUS – An eight-run fifth inning powered the Clippers to a 10-3 win Sunday at Huntington Park and a sweep of division-leading Indianapolis at Huntington Park.
The Clippers head to the All-Star Break riding a six-game winning streak and are just two games behind the Indians in the International League West.
Jerry Sands went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI for Columbus. Lonnie Chisenhall was 2-for-5 with two RBI.
Trey Haley (1-0) got the win after coming on in relief of Jarrett Grube in the fifth, right before the Clippers’ offensive onslaught chased Indianapolis starter Josh Wall (0-2).
Wall had loaded the bases, so got credited with the first three runs allowed on consecutive RBI base hits by Jesus Aguilar, Chisenhall, and Sands.
The Clippers will be back in action July 16 at Buffalo.
