COLUMBUS – Trenton Brooks hit a tie-breaking solo home run in the ninth inning to give the Clippers a 4-3 win over the Iowa Cubs at Huntington Park Thursday.
The Cubs tied the score in the top of the inning when Nick Martini scored on a fielder’s choice before Brooks knocked the game-winner over the right field wall off Ben Leeper (1-1).
Kyle Dowdy (4-4), who took the mound in the ninth and gave up the tying run after allowing Martini to take second on a wild pitch, was the beneficiary of Brooks’ long ball.
