Closing arguments conducted in Husel murder trial

COLUMBUS (AP) β€” Closing arguments in the trial of a former Mount Carmel doctor charged in multiple hospital deaths have been conducted.

A prosecutor told jurors Monday that regardless of how close a patient is to death, it’s illegal to speed up the process.

Dr. William Husel is accused of ordering excessive painkillers for 14 patients in the Mount Carmel Health System.

He has pleaded not guilty and his attorneys say he was providing comfort care for dying patients, not trying to kill them.

David Zeyen is an assistant Franklin County prosecutor. He told jurors Monday it’s a crime in Ohio to kill a dying person.
