COLUMBUS, Ohio – It is not known what role extreme cold played in the death of an Athens County woman, but it was certainly to blame for the death of elderly northwest Ohio woman and two Cleveland-are residents on Monday.
A statement from Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly says a passing driver spotted the body of Teresa Goode, 45, Monday in a yard at a trailer park near Athens as below-zero wind chills were reported in the area.
The sheriff says scrapes on the body and its position indicated a fall, and foul play is not suspected. Authorities say an autopsy and toxicology tests may provide more information about how she died.
Police in northwestern Ohio say a 90-year-old Wauseon woman was found dead in the snow near her stranded car.
Virginia McFeters’s body was found Monday morning in drifting snow in Wauseon, roughly 35 miles west of Toledo. Police say it appears that the woman’s car had gotten stuck in the snow and she was trying to get back home.
Wauseon assistant police chief Bill McConnell says authorities don’t know how long McFeters had been outside or what led to her death.
