COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kenyans Meshack Kirwe and Kennedy Kemei finished first and second in the men’s division of the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon Sunday.
Kirwe completed the redrawn course in 2:18:17, 1:14 ahead of defending champion Kemei.
Lauren Woodring, of Bethel, Pa., won the women’s division with a time of 2:41:24. She also won the race in 2012. Irina Alexandrova was second, 2:10 behind Woodring.
Nelson Oyugi and Lilian Mariiita were the top finishers in the half-marathon and Chad Johnson won the wheelchair division.
The new course took the 18,000 past the hospital that benefits from their participation.
