Columbus records 130th homicide of year

COLUMBUS – Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man on the West Side Thanksgiving Day.

Officers responding to a report of shots fired in the 900 block S. Roys Avenue at approximately 4:44 p.m. found a 42-year-old man inside a home at that address, suffering from “visible injuries,” Sgt. Michael Smith of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his name had not been released early Monday.

This incident remains under investigation.

This was the 130th homicide of the year in Columbus.
