Columbus St. breaks ground on culinary arts building

COLUMBUS – The ground-breaking is scheduled for Tuesday morning for Columbus State Community College’s new Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts building.

Mitchell Hall, at the corner of Cleveland and Mt. Vernon avenues, is named for Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, which is leading a $10 million fundraising campaign.

Mitchell Hall, scheduled for completion next year, is Columbus State’s first new building project since 2006.

The $33 million project will be funded by $10 million in state capital funding and the City of Columbus has designated more than $7 million for aligned streetscape, utilities and parking improvements in support of the project, college spokesman Brent Wilder said.
