Concerns over missing diabetic man

COLUMBUS – Columbus police are asking for help locating a missing Southeast Side man they say is in need of diabetes medication and has no memory.

UPDATE: Derek Simmons was located Friday and is safe.

Derek Simmons, 37, was last seen in the area of Kent Street and Fairwood Avenue in Driving Park on Thursday.

Simmons is diabetic and his last know insulin injection was at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. Investigators say he has mental issues and no memory function due to complications from a past diabetic coma.

He was last seen wearing dark rimmed glasses, a blue t-shirt, blue jeans, and gray-and-red tennis shoes.

He is clean shaven with close cut black hair, brown eyes, stands 5′ 6″ tall and weighs 150 pounds.
